Jahan Begum, wife of Mohammed Adil Shah was laid to rest in Ainapur village 5km from Bijapur town. Jahan begum selected this place in Ainapur as she did not want her tomb near Gol Gumbaz. It was very rare for a queen to have a mausoleum of her own. Generally the queen will be buried along side the king. The tomb was planned on the same scale as Gol Gumbaz but it was never completed. The turrets and the inner chamber with three arches on all four sides were completed. A small tank was planned in front.
A mosque was constructed to the right of the tomb.

For no apparent reason this structure in ruins interested us more than other monuments in Bijapur.
The place may or may not be open as there is no guard. Villagers near by will help find someone who can open the gate. Luckily for us the gate was not locked and we could visit the place.

Beautifully carved square platform and the tomb on top. The tomb has survived very well under all weather conditions.
