Location: Banshankari.
Banshankari temple in south bengaluru is one of the famous temples in the city. The temple was constructed in 1915 with the deity brought from Banshankari temple in Badami. The temple is known for the rakhukala pooja. Rakhukala is considered as inauspicious time in Hinduism but here the pooja done during this time attracts hundreds of devotees. The prayers are offered by lighting the wick soaked in ghee kept in the reversed lemon peel. The story behind the pooja in rakhukala is interesting. Three women once came to the temple during the rakhukala and asked the priest to perform pooja. When the priest finished pooja the three women had vanished and it was believed the goddesses themselves came and asked to perform pooja.
Photography strictly not allowed inside. Only after i clicked the below pictures the security asked me to stop. I then kept the camera in the vehicle.

The place gets crowded on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday for the special pooja. Do visit the temple and get the blessing of Goddesses Banshankari Amman.
